|

Is the Driving Instructor Fully Qualified or just a trainee?
What is the difference between the two and is it value for money?
Make sure that you choose a Driving Instructor that is on the official register of Driving Instructors.
Driving Instructors have to display a licence in the window of their vehicle when they are charging for driving tuition. A fully qualified Instructor will have a green badge and a trainee Instructor will show a Pink badge.
Driving Instructors have to go through a very stringent qualification process which involves taking a three part exam.Only when they demonstrate that they have a sound understanding of instructual techniques will they be awarded with the green badge.
A driving Instructor who has a Pink badge, will still be in the process of qualifying for the final exam. Approximately 75% of these trainees do not go on to qualify and the official pass rate is about 25%.
Some of the countries largest driving schools such as BSM,LDC Learner driver centre,New driver,Bill Plant ,Red and Learners U.K. use trainees and will generally charge the same rate for their services.
It's important to note that these trainee's have only passed their theory and practical driving test's and will be preparing for the all important test of instructual ability at your expense.
Before you commit and book your lessons ASK THE QUESTION will my driving Instructor be fully qualified.
Before a person can be accepted on to the official register of driving Instructors they must complete a criminal records check to establish if they will be safe to work with the general public.
How much should a driving instructor charge for driving lessons?
The price of a driving lesson is only one of the factors that you should consider when making your choice of driving instructor. It's not like buying a new pair of jeans where several retailers will all have the same product and you just shop around for the best deal.
Driving instructors can not be compared like for like. They may drive around in similar tution vehicles but the instruction they give can vary enormously. Some driving instructors once qualified never take any additional training to keep up with new developements. Can you imagine a Doctor or Nurse never taking further training.
Other driving instructors take part in CPD which is continued professional developement, this ensure's that they are at the fore front of the many changes taking place with in the industry.
People often look for a driving Instructor who is" good and cheap"unfortunately the two rarely go together as many have found to their cost, but only after wasting hundreds of pounds.
There are driving Instructors who are reliable, have first class teaching skills, years of experience ,high pass rates and many satisfied customers. These type of Instructors stay busy for a very good reason, not because they are the cheapest in town but because their customers learn in fewer lessons and benefit from top teaching skills.
On the hand some driving Instructors still teach old methods and have poor customer service skills. |
