Why do so many ADI,s perform so badly during the check test?

The main reason is not having a full understanding of what the S.E (ADI) or as they are now known Register Examiners are looking for.

Many ADI,s do not understand the importance of the three core competencies:

Identification of Faults
Fault Analysis
Remedial Action

The lowest mark in each of these Columns will determine the overall grade.

The other area that many score badly on ,is level of Instruction by giving to much or to little help.

Correct Record keeping is another issue that gets neglected, with no detailed training records kept on file and virtually no feedback to the pupil.

Route planning is essential for the pupil to practice the subject matter and must be appropriate for his or her ability. Many choose their favorite subject regardless of wether its suitable or not.

We should all be adopting these techniques as part of our every day life as driving instructors, but for many this is not the case.

If you are new to the job and have recently passed your part three exam,it could be that you just need a little more advice and practice or there may have been gaps in your tuition.

You may have been an instructor for 20 years and think that you know the job inside out, procedures change with time and as most  work as individuals the new ways to not always filter through until its to late (the check test).

CPD is coming ,we can not bury our heads in the sand for much longer , according to the recent goverment consultation paper ADIs will be more accountable to the public for their standards of tuition, their pass rates and grading.

Be ahead of the game,be prepared and breeze through the dreaded check test with confidence and then reap the rewards as others fall by the wayside.

CHECK TEST PREPERATION.

90 minute session as follows:

I will meet with you 10 minutes before  your normal 1 hour lesson at a place of your choice.

As on a check test we can discuss the objectives and ability of your pupil .

I would sit behind the pupil and take no part in the lesson.

I would use the same form (ADI check list of assessment) used by the SE/ registrar examiner.

At the end of the lesson when the pupil has departed ,I will give a summary of the lesson stating strengths and weaknesses.

A full written report will be sent within two days containing advice on any suggested remedial training.

The fee for this session would be £50.00 payable in advance.

Remedial Training

Click Here To Zoom In On This Image Remedial Training is structured for  instructors who would like to improve on their teaching abilities.

It could be that you have been in this industry a long time with a great deal of experience but not quite kept up to date with  the recent changes that seem to be occurring almost on a daily basis.

It could be that you are new to the job and would like some additional training or advice.

So many in this industry struggle to make a decent living ,barely survive by charging ridiculous lesson fees and seek no additional training since the day they qualified.

We run a very successful driving school and have always been able to command premium lesson fees and stay fully booked while those around us falter.

The secret of success,is not to slash prices but to make your self better than the competition, how many will tell you that pupils will not pay for quality tuition, this is simply not the case otherwise we would go bankrupt.

TRAIN TO GAIN  before its to late, things are going to get a whole lot tougher.

Survive by being better.

Please telephone me on 01278 450142 and have a chat about the way forward.
